Based in San Antonio, the South Texas Thunderbird Club (STTC) is a family oriented organization with the goal of having fun, enjoying and preserving our Thunderbirds among friends. It is an active chapter of the Vintage Thunderbird Club International (VTCI) organization. This elevates interest in this beautiful car to a world wide level. NEON SIGN & PLAYER PIANO RESTORATION VISIT!
Thanks to all who participated in our In-Town visit to new members John & Pam Talbot and their Neon Sign & Player Piano Restoration facility after
our July 27th Business Meeting! If you missed attending, you missed a lot to see regarding his great display of collectable gas, oil, and other signs.
Not to mention his excellent collection of Player Piano's and Nickelodeons! He demonstrated how the Player Piano's work with their rolls of sheet music
installed. I remember as a child that my family had one and I remember watching it play itself from the music roll you installed in it. In fact, I started
learning how to play the piano on it. Then he demonstrated one of several of his Nickelodeons with its built in percussion and other musical instruments.
These are fairly new devices that some companies have been buying to entertain their customers. John told us those Nickelodeons contain some 20,000 pieces
of music installed on an internal hard drive! We enjoyed watching it play and I was able to record a very short video clip of it. Watch the keyboard as it
plays itself! It had been thought by some that his facility, which does not have AC, would be to hot to attend, but that was not the case with the many and
big fans he has in it to keep us cool which it did. He provided a lot of sausages wrapped in a flour tortilla, with potato salad which were very good,
along with free soft drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and he has invited us to come back later in the year or next year during a cooler part of
the year. See the included very short video of the Nickelodeon play (which are created by QRS Music starting about 5 years ago). They also market player
piano's and the music rolls needed to make them work. Go to their website, Click on the top video to view it and scroll down to the second one to hear it play.
QRS Music Then the other video. Info on the Nickelodeons by QRS.
QRS Nickelodeons! Here are a few Photos as to what we enjoyed seeing during our visit, with a lot more to come in the next STTC Newsletter. View the
very short video I took from my cellphone. I wish I had continued recording longer, but I was trying to keep the size of the video down. Click on the little
